ABOUT
Saskatchewan Prairie Light Photography Festival was launched in 2014 and takes place every two years, from January to March, with simultaneous exhibitions and celebrations of photography across the province.
Each participating venue curates and schedules its own programming. Openings, workshops, panel discussions and artist talks are locally determined in response to their audience and programming needs.
A Festival website consolidates all the programming, cataloguing the range of opportunities to enjoy and celebrate photography and photographers around Saskatchewan.
New features in 2016 include a series of online galleries for feature photographers and a photography competition with a grand prize of a solo exhibition in one of the participating galleries.
Saskatchewan Prairie Light Photography Festival is inspired by the success of Montreal’s Le Moi de la Photo, Toronto’s ScotiaBank Contact and Calgary’s Exposure festivals.
Saskatchewan Prairie Light adopts the model of simultaneous exhibitions of photography in a variety of venues, and in all genres.
Saskatchewan Prairie Light Photography Festival is Canada’s first province-wide photography event.
